Application for Coaches

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BEING A COACH FOR THE VETERAN STRONGMAN ASSOCIATION?

The Veteran Strongman Association is looking for qualified strength and conditioning coaches with experience in the sport of strongman to provide strength programming for veterans of the United States military.

Criteria

Anyone interested in working as a VSA Coach must meet the following four requirements:

1. You must have a degree (Associate’s, B.A., B.S., M.S.) in exercise science, physical

education, kinesiology or a related field) or you must be certified as a strength and

conditioning coach from one of the following accredited organizations:

a. American Council on Exercise (ACE)

b. International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA)

c. National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)

d. National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF)

e. National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)

2. You must agree to use the TrainHeroic app to create and deliver your training programs

to the veteran athletes you are partnered with.

3. You must complete the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians

(NAEMT) Mental Health Resilience Officer (MHRO) certification course. Upon

completion, the VSA will reimburse you for the cost of the course. More information

Expectations

If your application is accepted and you join our team of coaches, you will be partnered with a veteran and expected to provide him or her with the following:

  • A 12-week customized strength training program

  • Access to the Train Heroic app to deliver your programming each week.

  • Motivational support and guidance for your veteran athlete’s training and, if applicable, competition prep.

  • Weekly check-ins for accountability via e-mail, text, or a phone call based on your agreed-upon preference with the veteran athlete.

After reviewing your application, if you are approved as a member of our coaching team, we will introduce you to your athlete via e-mail.
